Fourteen Years of Innovations
In 1994 we started developing multimedia quizzes for public and government agencies a year later we were approached by the city of Los Angeles to design and develop a quiz for curb side recycle awareness.
We accepted the challenge and delivered a rich media quiz for a portable kiosk called, "Recycle and Win".
The portable kiosk traveled between schools and community events, throughout the city of Los Angeles. This project was so successful that it was featured in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star and The Whittier News.
The news spread out to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) and we were asked to develop a water quality awareness program called the "WaterIQ Game" for the residents of the Southern California. Kiosks were installed at the water museums of Vista del Lago, city of Long Beach, city of Corona, city of Walnut and San Diego counties. The WaterIQ program was multimedia rich with graphics, sounds and video running as a standalone with a flat database that shuffled questions depending on the city of choice.
A new challenge
In 2002 a new challenge was presented. The Veterans Administration (VA) of Dallas Texas was in need of a full feature testing program for their 5,000 plus employees. Their requirements were based on relationship functionality able to test all employees from different departments and keep personal data and scores. The challenge was met and we delivered a full function SQL testing program call MET test (Mandatory Employee Testing). We continued working with the VA developing self-service applications to gather and serve information for the veterans until 2004.
Out of no where
One day In June 2005 we received a call from one of our current clients; they needed a full feature self service survey program to be used by their Marketing and Promotions department at trade shows and events. Their list of features was long and their time frame was very short (2 weeks).
Since we had vast experience and 320 hours on our hands to finish the program we started a journey to develop a program to meet their needs. We gathered the multimedia quiz modules and the relationship database and fused it together creating a program that surpassed their expectations.
Two weeks later on setup day we traveled to Las Vegas where the biggest Golf show of the year was to take place. We walked into the convention center and installed the program on about 20 touch screen workstations at two different entrances. Once we were done we went home for a rest knowing that the program was functional but needed some improvements.
That weekend our client was able to collect over 3,000 data samples, they came back very positive and encouraged since their old paper way only provided a few hundred data samples per week, of course they had a list of wishes which we took in consideration.
Since then our family of survey applications has evolved to a bullet proof survey system collecting data samples in every environment possible.
Promedia was founded in 1993, by Luis Loarca, the company was a true industry pioneer at the time in self-service applications, and one of the first to use touch-screen kiosks in public areas. Promedia Multi-Sensory Tech, Inc. developed self-service applications for the Veterans affairs and other public and government offices. After 9-11 like so many businesses working with the government Promedia suffer a financial crisis, in 2004 Luis separated from Promedia Multi-Sensory Tech. and became Promedia Software, since then Promedia Software has developed web applications for the private sector. |
